What’s so significant about Remarkable Rocks? Easy answer...they are a geological wonder!
Over 500 million years and 33,000 feet below the Earth's surface an elemental assault of wind, rain, sea salt erosion created the magical sculpting and moulding of the giant granite slabs of rock we can currently see.
They now tower 200 feet above the sea level and create a remarkably unique experience for visitors. As intimidating as they are, looming above you, you can’t help but immediately be drawn into climbing and exploring them.
At certain times of the day, the rust colored lichen turns the rocks orange and no matter which way you look, you see something new.
What do you see in these formations?
We thought this one looked like an eagle or vulture with a big beak and wing.
This one reminded us of bat wings!
Pig? or Dog?
Chuck thought dragon and Melissa thought alligator or snapping turtle?
Do you see a profile and Melissa picking the nose? LOL!
Chuck aka Fred Flintstone getting his vroom vroom on in a Flindersmobile!
Some of the rocks just look like HUGE vertebrae from ancient dinosaurs.
They really are that massive, Melissa looks so tiny!
